THE VERBIER FESTIVAL CHAMBER ORCHESTRA EMBARKS ON AN UNFORGETTABLE 8-CONCERT TOUR ACROSS CHINA 

 

22 March 2024 — Verbier (Switzerland) — Renowned for its electrifying performances, the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra is gathering for a much-anticipated tour across China, bringing their trademark energy and passion to some of the most prestigious cities and venues across the country. The tour represents a celebration of cultural exchange and artistic excellence in collaboration with Wu Promotion.

The tour begins on 24 March at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and concludes with three performances on April 4, 5 and 6 in Beijing at the brand new Beijing Performing Arts Centre. Between Hong Kong and Beijing the VFCO travels to Zhuhai, Shenzhen, Wuhan and Tianjin.

Under the baton of VFCO Music Director Gábor Takács-Nagy, the orchestra performs an ambitious series of programmes featuring Beethoven’s Symphonies 3, 6, and 7 plus concertos with three of the most dynamic young solo artists on today’s classical music scene- violinist Marc Bouchkov, cellist Anastasia Kobekina and pianist Alexander Malofeev. They each perform solo concertos with the VFCO and also come together for Beethoven’s famous Triple Concerto.

The Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra is comprised of musicians who occupy positions in top orchestras around the world. They are all alumni of the Verbier Festival who come together for special touring projects throughout the year in addition to performing in Verbier each summer.
